September 2016 was a busy month for Friends of Stoner Creek (FOSC)(Paris, Ky. Sept 28, 2016)
FOSC participated in the fall water sampling event that is sponsored by Licking River Water Watch (LWRR) on Sept 10, 2016. Several of our member are trained water certified water samplers. They sample 3 times a year. FOSC and LRWW often come together to work on projects that help keep our Stoner Creek beautiful.
On Sept 20 2016 FOSC sponsored a community creek clean up near the soccer field . Around 250 lbs of small trash with some metal and blinds were picked up. Pat Simpson the 90 year old Bourbon County environmentalist was on hand to help with the cleanup. There were 12 participants in all.
On Sept 24 2016 Wayne Estes(FOSC member) lead a tire clean up that Boy Scout Troop 63 and 67 and adult volunteers participated in 83 tires were retrieved along 1.3 miles of lower Stoner. They were 14 participants in all.
